Sunday, November 9th @ 4pm Pacific Time

This 2+ hour class will demystify the process of leaving land life behind, either short term or forever, and help you understand what steps you need to take to go from dreaming about seeing the world by sail to actually making it your life.

The class will consist of three main sections, followed by an open ended Q&A.

1. Untying the Lines – This section will cover what it takes to conquer the hardest step in the cruising life, leaving land life behind. I will talk about what you should look for in a boat (as well as what you shouldn't). We will also discuss short and long term considerations in regards to the cruising life.

2. Going Cruising – Next, we will talk about the first year of cruising, how to pick your cruising ground, how the seasons and bureaucracy decide how long you can stay in one place, how you might fund the life, and what you can expect in the first few years. I will talk about clearing into and out of countries, how to get money, interacting with officials and the public and saying YES to new adventures.

3. The Long Wake – Finally, we will look further into the future and I will talk about things I have learned after 4 years of full-time cruising and living aboard. From pushing 6,000 miles in a single year to gear failures, I'll share what I've learned about the stress of cruising in remote places, battling burnout, and how to mitigate it. I will talk about setting up realistic goals for a single sailing season as well as setting up Plans A, B, and C, so if things happen that are beyond your control you will already have a basic backup plan in place.

The last portion of the class will be an open-ended Q&A where everyone will have a chance to ask questions, and we can discuss the subjects we covered. We can also dive-deep into the details of any questions you might have that I did not address.

This class will be formatted the same way my Anchoring Zoom Class was formatted back in 2024, complete with slides and videos during each segment and a downloadable PDF packed with information from the class and links to make planning your cruising life easier. Each participant will also receive a link a few days after the class that allows them to rewatch the recording of the class as many times as they wish.

I will be conducting this Going Cruising Class from onboard Triteia in Malaysia, but the timing will align with Sunday afternoon/evening in the USA, since 50% of my followers are Americans.
